Private Web Site Within a Domain

We wish to create a private web site in an Active Directory domain. The web site will only let selected AD users into the web site. The other users will get a login window but they will not login to anything. After three attempted logins the users will get an "access denied" web page.

Create two AD groups, one of usernames allowed to view the web site and one of users denied from the site.

Create the web site.

Create New Web Site in IIS Manager pointing to the above web site folder.

Give the IIS web site a Multiple ID. Add this ID to your DNS.

In the Properties-Directory Security of the web site in IIS Manager uncheck the Anonymous user entry. Check the Windows Authentication entry.

In IIS Manager, open Permissions tab.

Add the two AD groups. The allowed group should be able to function with the default read/view options. Choose all the denial boxes for the denied users group.

For ease of use in the AD environment, add the dmain web site to network users' Internet Explorer default home page (may wipe out multiple web site in default tabs).

Open ADUC.

Add a Domain Policy to an OU.
